Over the past 20 years, Shannon Academy of English has developed strong working relationships with agencies and partners around the world. We have been fortunate to welcome students from many countries including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and the US, and we look forward to collaborating with new partners in the future.
Tailor-made programmes
The agencies we work with trust us to tailor our programmes to suit the requirements of each group of students, and to provide excellence in both tuition and cultural experience. Each package includes airport transfers, accommodation with carefully selected host families, engaging language classes with qualified teachers, as well as a choice of cultural activities and excursions.
The dedicated team at Shannon Academy of English have a wealth of experience and knowledge in running successful language programmes. Caoimhe and her team are on hand before and during each stay to ensure that all programmes run smoothly. On arrival, all students and group leaders are provided with a welcome pack which includes a map of the local area and a detailed programme of activities for their stay. During the stay, staff members are on call 24 hours a day to offer support to students and group leaders, and to deal with any issues or emergencies that may arise.
Our wide range of innovative programmes means a package can be developed to suit every level of language learner, from beginner to advanced. These include our popular Summer Programme, our Academic Programme in partnership with local schools, a Work Placement Programme, and a Cultural Stay Programme. Each option encourages full immersion into Irish life, with the goal of enhancing the student’s overall experience.
Safe environment
At Shannon Academy, the safety of our students is paramount. We are committed to providing the best possible experience for students in a secure and positive environment. Our beautiful town of Athlone is a bustling urban centre with a small-town atmosphere, offering students the best that Irish life has to offer.
Host families are an integral part of our offering and are carefully selected to meet the needs of students. This includes meticulously matching each student with a suitable family, considering the student’s profile including language ability, dietary requirements, medical needs, etc.
Shannon Academy personnel regularly visit and inspect the homes to ensure that they meet the highest standards. Garda (police) vetting of all adults in the home is carried out prior to the student’s stay.
Our host families, many of whom have been with us since the foundation of the school, are chosen for their hospitality and warmth. All of our wonderful host families share our commitment to ensuring students get the most out of the Irish experience.
